Find Ancestors

Trying to find out where Delia fits into my ancestory. I don't know her birth name but she was born in Ireland c1864 immigrated to USA 1881 Her husband name is Daniel Finnegan born in Ireland c1861. They lived in New York in 1920. I do not know if they married in Ireland or USA.
Any information would be appreciated.

The first of the two 1920 census that Alviegal posted at 14:09 is the correct one.

According to that 1920 census Daniel arrived in US in 1874 and Delia in 1881 so they likely married in US (or 6 years was a long time to be apart). Daniel was naturalised 1880.

Delia was the aunt of Maggie Henry when that girl arrived in NY in 1925. Don't know if she was an aunt by marriage or bloodline.

Sums and dates weren't their strong point.

Just looking at this and rememberiig the other thread for Margaret Henry and her emigration.
Margaret was going to NY and was collected by her "Aunt" Delia Finnegan.

The birth listed above for Daniel Finnegan b 1892 says his mother's name was Delia Henry
Therefore it is quite possible that Delia Finnegan MS Henry and James Henry ( Margaret's father) were siblings
James Henry is on the 1911 census in Co Sligo aged 38yrs= born circa 1873
His place of birth is: Sligo
Delia Finnegan b Ireland, is aged 56 on 1920 census in NY = born circa 1864.

If we can establish who James's parents were, we may be able to find a birth record for both him and Delia.
I am fairly certain that Delia's birth name will be Bridget Henry!

James Henry's parents were Patrick Henry and Ellen Mullowney. They were married on 21st March 1855 in the church of Dromard Co.Sligo. Patrick died in December 1911 aged 84 and Ellen died January1893 aged 60. They lived in Ross,parish of Skreen/Dromard. I do not have birth certs for them. They had I believe 8 children the eldest being Bridget born c1857. Again I only have birth cert for James (my grandfather) 1872-1953. Bridget (Delia?) would have been my Great Aunt. This fits in with Delia being the Aunt of Margaret Henry.

Well, I would never have guessed that Delia was a version of Bridget. Found this on a site about names:
"Several correspondents in the US have noted that Delia is a common pet name for Bridget, being a shortened form of its variant Bedelia"

Perhaps she used the different version when she got to the US?

Unfortunately, the US arrivals around that time give scant information, just give birthplace as Ireland, also Delia's year of arrival varies a lot between 1920 and 1925 census. There are way too many Bridget Henrys arriving in the US to accurately pinpoint hers.
