According to the 1901 census quoted he would have been born 1873? Could have fibbed to reduce age difference with wife.

Ann, I guess she could at a push have had a baby at age 47?

What puzzles me more is that John would have been 51 when he signed up .....

.... and 37 when he married a 16 year old

I am trying to find any information at all about my Great Grandfather John McCaffrey. John was born I understand in Enniskillen in 1864, His parents were John McCaffrey born 1825 died 1870 and Mary Barrett born 1817 died 1914 believed to be in Enniskillen. John McCaffrey married a Fanny Thompson aged 16 yrs old in 1901 in Co Tyrone. John died on Armistice Day 1931 whilst laying a wreath at the War Memorial in Enniskillen.

I noted from the census return for 1901 he lived in 13 Castle Street, Enniskillen and he was listed as a General Servant Domestic.

Family stories and an obituary for his death mentioned he served in both the United States Navy or Marines and signed up in 1915 with the 11th Inniskillings and served in France.

Im just wondering if anyone can help me find out about him.

Thank you for any help

George Allison
