I have to admit I don't have a particular 'feel' for this family, other than I felt (and you have confirmed), that the Edward Chisnall who married Elizabeth Williams is the widowed Edward Chisnall who later married Elizabeth Babbington.

In this instance I simply posted anything that might be relevant to the names you posted, in the hopes that you, or more skilled helpers than I, would evaluate it, and might be able make something of it.

The Edward Chisnell who became a freeman, was either a goldsmith, or his father Thomas was one (I found the phrasing unclear as to which one of the two the description belonged to.

The father of Thomas 1770 and Edward 1771 was described on the baptism register as a carpenter, I didn't know if this correlated with anything you knew about the family.

The baptism of Edward 1771 says 'of the parish of Hornsey', which is why I posted the two deaths in that Parish in 1780 and 1781. As no ages were given, I have no idea whether either, neither, or both, related to the lads baptised in 1770 and 1771. If the Thomas who died in 1780 were the one baptised in 1770, then it is quite possible his parents recycled the name for another offspring.

I was hoping other helpers would pitch in and help this thread get going...

Thank you for sending that. I haven' seen it before, although I am not too sure if it tells me anything!!

In my tree I have an Edward Chisnall b 1771 - 1836 who married an Elizabeth Williams and then an Elizabeth Babbington. I understand that this Edward had a brother Thomas Chisnall born 1782 - 1856 who married a (Sarah) Maria Tolley.

I think it is possible that Edward b1771 Highgate may be the same person ... although he already had a brother Thomas bap 25/3/1770. He may have died young and hence Thomas born 1782 came along.

It is of course possible that "my" Edward born 1771 - 1836 is not a brother of Thomas Chisnall b 1782 - 1856 at all ...as there is a quite a large time gap ..11 years or so. If I remember I got this info from a will ... Any thoughts would be appreciated.

.. I was interested in Thomas Chisnall marrying Ann Hitch .. but this was in 1794, and I don't know who they are!!
