Having also now seen that my great grandfather Arthur E Aldis lived at Kimberley Hall, Wymondham, Norfolk in 1901, I'm amazed to see that it's of stately home size. It's now a conference and wedding venue. I'm trying to find out more about the Aldis family as a result.

Can anybody see Harriet Wells in 1911? I wonder if she got married by any chance?

'...I've just received my grandfather's birth certificate today. The address on it is given as Towngreen, Wymondham (with Town Green spelled as one word). His mother is Harriet Laura Wells - domestic servant. '

So Harriet above is obviously the correct mother.

I'm trying to locate my grandfather's father. My grandfather (Leslie Norman) was born in Forehoe district, Norfolk in 1899. His mother was a maid I think to a Mr Aldis (not sure of the spelling) and my grandfather was the result of their assocation. My grandmother's name was Wells.

My grandfather married my grandmother Minnie Jannetta Tew in 1919 and my uncle was born in Norfolk (Leslie Geoffrey) in the same area in 1921.

Does anybody know anything about this? Either about my grandmother (who later married a Mr Morrison in South Africa and became Mrs Morrison-Wells) or about my great-grandfather, Mr Aldis/Aldiss/Alders/Allders/Alhous.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
