Think Ivy Irene must have been born before her mother(Isabella ?)was married.to Mr Currie (could be Charles) and Ivy took his name, that is why she put Currie not Rylance as her maiden name on Nora Isabella birth cert.Just wish I knew if I had a blood relative living. My fathers name is not on my birth cert.only says my mother was Nora Isabella Griffin formerly Morrison.

Not sure what you mean..............

The maiden name of a woman is always recorded on the index of her child's birth

Do you have Nora's actual birth cert?

If so, what is the EXACT wording?

The birth is two years after the possible marriage

Currie because maybe she was born before her mother married patrick Morrison.

Thank you Reggie, not sure why my Grandmother put her maiden name as Currie on the birth certificate if her name was Currie.

Look for a previous marriage for the mother..................

To trace the previous generation, buy the marriage cert,......for names of both fathers and, of course, the ages of the couple

My birth mother was Nora Isabella Griffin(born Morrison}1927 Chorlton, she was married to Frederick Finney for a while, but do not know where the name Griffin came from. Her parents were Ivy Irene Morrison(formerly Currie} and Patrick Morrison, but I can only find Ivy Irene Rylance married to Patrick Morrison, also can not find her Grandparents.I was born in Warrington in 1950 but I think everyone else is from Chorlton,Manchester. :-(
