Find Ancestors

Does anyone know please how to find the Plot my Father-in-law is in?
I have explored the Graveyard that I would think he was buried but no mention of him.
He died in the 1950's.
I realise there won't have been a Headstone but surely there should have been a record of where he is??
Please, any ideas??

Do you think he was buried in a churchyard or a cemetery? Most cemeteries have their burial records on computer and either the cemetery office or the local council offices should be able to tell you if he is buried there (especially if you have the date of death).

If it was a churchyard then the plot details should either still be with the church sexton or with the relevant County Records Office.

Nothing in the Church records. Will have to try the County Records Office.

Are you certain he had a burial and not a cremation? If cremated the ashes could have been scattered and there won't necessarily be a plot number to find.

I don't think it would have been a cremation Kath. Very few around here in the '50s. x

The newspaper at the time may have the obit, which would help with info. So a trip to the local library may help. :-)
