Hi there - unlikely anyone with knowledge of your Dad will happen on this posting - best thing you can do is use the "Search" facility, top right hand corner of this page to see if he features in any trees on this site - if you strike lucky, which hopefully you will, you can make contact with the tree owner through this site - where and when was he born?

Do the records give a regiment (or what ever) name?

See if there is an internet site for them - they may have an old comrades section.

all i can find on his papers are national registration CCMU 1963 DISCHARGED FROM CLASS G RESERVE ON 27.02.1964

You could try Wartime Memories Project - that cover RAF and although dates cover the two World Wars, the memories section covers most of the squadrons. Do you know the squadron he was attached to?

Reggie's is right - RAF. I think you would find them very helpful with tracing the squadron if you do not know it.
