Hi

I wonder if someone can help me.

In my tree I have Norah Fanny Rammell b1874 Woolwich dau of Thomas Rammell & Honora McKenna:

Births Dec 1874 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RAMMELL Norah Fanny Woolwich 1d 999

I have found her in 1911 census as a servant (single) in the Cranefield household in Lewisham:

RAMWELL, Norah Fanny Servant Single F 36 1875 General Servant Domestic Kent Woolwich

There appears to be a second Nora Fanny Rammell b1896 Woolwich.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Births Dec 1896 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Rammell Nora Fanny Woolwich 1d 1338

I cannot locate this younger Nora Rammell in any census! She appears to have married in 1928.

Surname First name(s) Mother/Spouse/Age District Vol Page

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marriages Dec 1928 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RAMMELL Nora F Miles Canterbury 2a 2424

This third Nora Rammell is yet another Nora who was a widow at death so not either of my first two Nora(h)s.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Deaths Jun 1960 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

RAMMELL Nora 75 Bridge 5b 61

I am struggling to find any info for the second Nora born 1896. There is no death record in freebmd so I am assuming she did marry.

Have you any ideas?

Thanks

Regards,

Gillian

Gillian, just to check - you say that you believe Norah born 1896 married 1928, but also say 'I am struggling to find any info for the second Nora born 1896. There is no death record in freebmd so I am assuming she did marry.'

Can you just clarify please?

Hi Jan,

I have Nora Fanny Rammell b1896 (freebmd) but can find no further info for her, no census etc, except for a marriage in 1928. At first as I couldn't find her in any census I thought maybe that she had died. So when I saw the marriage in 1928 I am assuming that she was still alive and she did marry.

Maybe Nora junior is Norah senior's daughter?

Hi Maddie,

Yes that's correct she was the widow of John Harry Rammell. They married in 1922 Bodmin.

I think you HAVE to buy the birth certificate for Norah Fanny born 1896

That is the only way you are going to find out the name of her mother.

It might well be that she was adopted after birth, and her name changed ........... that would be the reason why you cannot find her.

Legal adoption did not come in until 1927, so there are very few records before that date.
