There are photos of Allan and Selina in trees on ancestry, and there are several trees with some members of the family in them. (Big bouquets on the wedding day)

Gins thank you again for the information regarding Louisa Simpson Apparently Dad's mother and father were not married Dad never spoke about who his father was. Louisa and Dad returned to England when dad was quite young. Dad attended a Merchant Navy school in his early teens (14??) in England I have as yet not been able to trace either the school or the year. Ann

Have you managed to find a birth certificate for Allan?

If your father was born in 1918 and his father died in 1919, he would have no memories of him and so only what his mother told him to speak about.

When you say his parents were not married is this because you have not found a marriage for them, or because he is unmarried at death?

So is it the same person but Robert and Richard (his second name) mixed up somewhere?
