Hi Thank you both as you seem to have gone to a lot of trouble but as you say Reggie it does not resolve the problem. Yes his father was John Power Clarke who originated from Ireland who was a bandmaster. I do have a lot of info on the Clarkes but not on Onslow except he had loads of Children, Henry my grandfather being one of them. Story goes that when he died his wife burnt all his things! I do not think he was a nice man! You have both given me a few more names i did not have. Onslow was only born in Edinburgh as his father moved around a lot with the "band" Do not know who his mother was. His father married again after his wife died. jenny |

Of course, we're all having fun finding this 'stuff'.......but none of it resolves the actual problem...........! |

John Power Clarke was Onslow's father - see the post I made earlier - there has to be a connection! |

I can't think that this child isn't connected, but his birth is all I can find |

Looks like there was an earlier Elizabeth born to Onslow where he is listed as Musician 2nd Life Guards. I can't for sure say, that the record actually does read Pomet for her 3rd given name but whatever it is may be a throw back to an ancestors name |

Quite a bit on here, more particularly about his father who had a long and looks like distinguished military career as musician/bandsman |

It could be, of course, that he died somewhere other than England/Wales |
