Jude......we certainly do have some ratbags in our pasts.........my Great Grandfather left my Great grandmother at some point in the late 1890's early 1900 's and I am having a real challenge trying to find him?? I have another thread about him. Henry Arthur LEE. ????

HeyJudeB4Beatles

HeyJudeB4Beatles Report 22 May 2015 08:25

Yes, Jennifer, for my sins Hyde is a family line. My mother's mother was a Hyde. She was born - coincidentally - in Aston Birmingham where William and Ellen married. Her family moved to South Wales in the late 1890s.

I certainly have relatives in Australia after my great great grandfather's brother emigrated (and married bigamously - just like the wife he left behind)!

However, as I have found Hyde is a very very common name :-(

HeyJudeB4Beatles

The last census in 1901 shows Ernest as a Fruiterer's help, presumably working for his Father. Who's to say what his job was by the time he emigrated. His marriage certificate will hopefully tell you his father's name/occupation?

If this is the correct William b 1861, then he had a change of occupation by 1891!

Again, his marriage certificate to Ellen, should confirm his (and hers) Father's name/s and occupation
