Eringobragh1916 Report 27 Oct 2016 10:25

Sylann...Eventually found James place of birth as per 1871 Census...its states Kings** not Kingstt....
Bridget was born in the County Galway.

Who did your James (Joseph) marry....?

Eringobragh1916 Report 26 Oct 2016 21:33

Sylann...You should be looking at the County Offaly (known in the past as Kings County.)
You would then need to find the Civil Parish and Townland not excluding Ecclesiastical Parish for Roman Catholics.

I still cant find where it says "Kings" next to James name but then I don't have ancestry etc.

I've just checked the 1861 image on FMP (the one Kath posted) and it does say 'Ireland', not Scotland!

AQ, thanks for checking out the Ancestry 'version'

Sylann Report 25 Oct 2016 13:50

Thank you sorry for delay Genes wouldn't let me on?? Big difference in Ireland and Scotland for James ancestry has him born in Ireland It must be the same family even though their ages haven't altered in 10 years but for the children

Hello Ann

Sorry I meant 1860 for Thomas Not sure about Kelly Cowen or Kelly Mahan, both dates would fit I think it all boils down to The actual name of my gr grandfather was it just james or james Joseph?

As I've said my grans marriage had fathers name as James joseph BUT she did marry Joseph Turner -Have they got mixed up with the names
THe birth certificate I have for James Joseph has mother as Bridget Hagan?
the H is a littje arkward to decipher The census I'm going off states they had a son Thomas born 1860 this is why I was hoping to find out who his mother was ?
Their is that many Kelly's in Manchester at that time Needle in a hay stack!!!

Sylann Report 4 Sep 2015 19:14

I Know I've tried so many times to get it right but I always come to a dead end what with Kelly's and Turners their is a lot

I think I'll have to get some more certificates

Sylann

Sylann Report 4 Sep 2015 19:07

Oh That could be But if it is the same family it's not mine
it;s a bit hit and miss at the moment I've not got a lot to go off
The birth certificate might not be the right one
This is my Gr Granddad and on his marriage certificate it had James Kelly
On my grandmothers marriage it had her father as James Joseph?? but she married a Joseph?
Going through the birth for James Joseph their was only one so that is what I'm going off

I think I'll have to start again as my James came from Ireland not Scotland

Thank you for helping

Is it a member of your Turner family that you are looking for? There are quite a lot of Turners (119) on the 1861 census in Chorlton upon Medlock.
