Would say the best bet is to get their marriage cert.

It will give their ages and fathers names & occupations

With the options available, it might be best to purchase their MC. That way you'll know the names of their fathers. Witnesses may be a help as well.

Welcome to the Community boards Deborah.

(I'll let Deborah know how to find her replies) :-)

Deborah if David is your mum's cousin and you know nothing about his father, then he must be a cousin on his mother's side (Jones)?

why not ask him about his father rather than post on the internet?

perhaps he is deceased and had no children ... ?

it's just that I always think that to get information about the immediate family of living people, if one only wants it to put in a tree, it is wisest to ask those people directly as they may prefer not to have their families talked about on the internet

(my dad is deceased but I would not really like to see a cousin's child asking about him and my family on the net and I am not even happy to find him in trees of people who are not blood related to him)

in any case of course the advice is correct, you must get the marriage certificate so you know Arthur's age when he married and his father's name

I'm going to hazard a guess that he was Arthur Ridley White :-)

You could try looking at his autobiography , if you haven't ?

edit, if you look at the index here

http://www.amazon.co.uk/David-Jason-My-Life/dp/0099581167

for Jones, you may be able to work from some of the names given.

JoonieCloonie

JoonieCloonie Report 20 Dec 2015 21:30

so was I the only one to miss this?

not 'David Jason White' son of Arthur White and Olwen Jones, as one would naturally have thought, but well-known personality 'David Jason'

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Jason
'Jason's father, Arthur Robert White, was a porter at Billingsgate Fish Market, and his Welsh-born mother, Olwen Jones, worked as a charwoman. She gave birth to twin boys in Edmonton, Middlesex in February 1940, but Jason's twin brother died during childbirth.'

so ... another tale of famous blood :-)

we all have 'em ... and some are even true ;-)

there is a 'postem' note on his birth record at freebmd that says:

'DAVID JOHN WHITE BORN 2ND FEBRUARY 1940 NORTH MIDDLESEX COUNTY HOSPITAL. PARENTS OLWEN JONES AND ARTHUR ROBERT WHITE.'

so ... is the question really whether this Arthur Robert White is related to your mother, Deborah?

again ... that's what the marriage certificate is needed for
