The above Tom Worton Mitchell Dixon was born in Newcastle upon Tyne Sept Q 1891, his mother's maiden name was Patterson, he married at Hexham 25 September 1924 to Lilian Peel giving both names Tom Worton Mitchell Dixon and Tom Worton Mitchell Dixon otherwise known as Patterson.

When he die 6 December 1958 in Newcastle he is Tom Worton Mitchell Patterson, he is at 4.Beaumont Street Hexham when the 1939 National Directory was taken seperated and later divorced from wife Lilian she was at another address with there three children Stanley, Joyce Patricia and Brian.

Tom does not appear on the 1901 or 1911 census as Dixon or Patterson is it possible anyone can sort this puzzle out.

hi david
do you have his birth cert
if not you will need to buy it

The GRO Index shows that he was registered as David says in the title

DIXON, THOMAS WORTON MITCHELL mmn PATTERSON
GRO Reference: 1891 S Quarter in NEWCASTLE-UPON-TYNE Volume 10B Page 101

But as safc says, you need to get the certificate ....... that will tell you the full name of the father and of the mother, plus the address where they were living.

That gives us some hope of finding if they did indeed marry!

Just incidentally, the 1939 Register says that his date of birth was 8 August 1891, which fits in with the birth registration in the September quarter.

He is said to be a Fishmonger, and he is using the name Tom, not Thomas

As he used the surname Patterson too is sounds like his parents may not have married

You do need his birth cert for its info

As you have the marriage cert, can you tell us what name and occupation he gave for his father - if any.
