Hi, looking for a bit of help as I have hit a brick wall!
I am trying to find out what happened to Marry Coles born in May 1915. Whitehaven.
It seems that she went away when she was younger (not sure when or why or where to) but the family lost touch.
I am now doing my family tree and cant find her anywhere.
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Louise

Thanks Shirley,
That is the Mary I'm trying to find out about. I know about her parents and siblings & where she was born. However I don't know what happened to her. I cant find any marriage or death records or any mention of her in the 1939 register.
I am hoping someone out there might know something about her or point me in the direction of how & where to look.
She is a bit of a family mystery.
Many thanks,
Louise

What was her exact birth date, Louise?

The trouble is, Mary Coles isn't an unusual name. If she married, it could have been anywhere - and there are a number of marriages of women of that name all over the country.

Or she could have gone abroad.

(Not telling you anything you don't already know! Just thinking aloud.)

I've looked again and found her on the 1939 register at the family home in Wilton Cumberland. However then she just vanishes?
Would really live to find out what happened to my great aunt.
Yours hopefully, Louise.

Not sure the 1932 marriage can be right if she is showing as Coles & single on the 1939 register?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 14 Mar 2018 16:25

There is no marriage for a Mary Coles to a Davies after 1939, apart from one in Birmingham, where the woman has a second forename

As the death registration matches the DOB, a copy of the cert might prove informative

I don't know all of the ins and outs regarding the 1939, but could the update have been added in connection with her death - rather than as a result of her marriage. Unfortunately, it isn't possible to read the notes,as they are virtually obliterated by the redaction

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 14 Mar 2018 16:27

Based on the location of the death I looked for births. There is one Davies/Coles in Bournemouth in 1955
