Edwin swindells Elizabeth Bentley wed chadderton Lancashire 1883 after called henry after her marriage in the census it says she was born Lancashire what I am trying to do is find her before her marriage please can any one help her first son was Samuel henry swindells born chadderton Lancashire they ended up living in Macclesfield I am not sure if Edwin was born in Macclesfield or Manchester census are confusing sometimes x

I think she might be this one, mother looks to be a widow in 1871, but poss unmarried on 1861, the children here seem ( from GRO) to be illegitimate so maybe was not married?

On the image, Elizabeth said that she had been married 28 years, and had had 4 children, all still living.

Yet ......

a) Edwin is not there, I haven't found him on the 1911 Census

b) Edwin and Elizabeth appear to have only had 3 children ....... Samuel H Swindells 1884 Lancashire; Ethel Swindells 1886 Cheshire, and May Swindells 1888 Cheshire.


I think this strengthens my view that Elizabeth was Ada's mother ........... you'd have to buy the birth certificate to be sure. I cannot find a baptism for Ada.

It looks as though Edwin died in 1902 .........
