Looking for any information on a James McKay who died before 1872.
His son was William Mckay born 1847/8 died 1893 aged 46 years a soldier.
James may have been a printer.

Too many random William McKays - It's a very common name.

The one who married Esther isn't the right one - his father was Francis, as per Maddie's post.

The cert originally said he was a widower, and was later corrected on the instruction of the widow, Catherine McKay.

I can't see the family in 1851 - or later, for that matter.

In 1841 there's a James married to a Mary, and he's a fisherman in Gamrie
In 1836 there's a James who's a servant in Cairnbo, Gamrie.

I don't see one who's a printer.
