thanks for looking - friends relative can't find certificates at present so they may have to order them, in the meantime I am still trying to gain information for him. I didn't realize how popular the name of Joseph Steadman was till I started looking so thank you for helping.

There's a Joseph Steadman at Back 74 Mole Street in 1912 -

BUT I can't say if this is your Joseph or one of the other Joseph Steadmans.

Joseph Steadman
in the Midlands, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1955
Name: Joseph Steadman
Year: 1912
Ward or Division/Constituency: Sparkbrook
Residence Place: Birmingham

Here's another Joseph in 1912:

Joseph Steadman
in the Midlands, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1955
Name: Joseph Steadman
Year: 1912
Ward or Division/Constituency: Washwood Heath
Street address: 15 Wavell road
Residence Place: Birmingham

Ancestry doesn't have any ER results between 1912 and 1920 for a Joseph Steadman in Birmingham.

If you have their marriage cert, it will give their addresses in 1914 - as will the son's birth cert, as Erika says.

Their address in 1914 should be on the son’s birth cert

Birth certs of any subsequent children will also have that info

Thanks - I was wondering where the family lived before 1920 - sorry I didn't phrase it properly

Joseph and Beatrice in 1930 -

Joseph Steadman
in the Midlands, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1955
Name: Joseph Steadman
Year: 1930
Ward or Division/Constituency: West Birmingham
Street address: 5 court 48 Helena Place
Residence Place: Birmingham

Address is actually 5, Court 48, Hingeston Road, same as in 1920.

Son Joseph and both parents at same address in 1935:

Joseph Steadman Jr
in the Midlands, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1955
Name: Joseph Steadman Jr
Year: 1935
Ward or Division/Constituency: West Birmingham
Residence Place: Birmingham

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 19 Aug 2018 21:31

Address in 1920: 5, Court 48, Hingeston Street

Joseph Steadman
in the Midlands, England, Electoral Registers, 1832-1955
Name: Joseph Steadman
Year: 1920
Ward or Division/Constituency: West Birmingham
Residence Place: Birmingham

But there's more than one Joseph Steadman in Birmingham.

Arthur and Sarah Newman are listed at 142, and then there's a series of court 48 addresses (1-5).
I'm not sure if that means they're part of 142 or not.

Earlier thread about this couple:
https://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/military_chat/thread/1373397

Quote from Flip's answer on that thread:

"If so, Joseph Sn and Beatrice are living 142 Hingeston St, All Saints ward, west Birmingham on the 1935 ERs. Joseph Jn is listed with them, but Leslie would not be old enough to vote.

Added: The parents had been living at this address since at least 1925 according to the ER, but Joseph Sn is listed here from 1920 & 1922 so far as I can see."
