Can anyone find a baptism, his parents marriage, siblings etc and anything back beyond that please? Have looked on Family Search and https://www.irishgenealogy.ie/en/ They were not known to be RC All census on which found say BORN IRELAND c 1824/5 Always a Pit worker. He hasn't been identified on the 1851 census MARRIED ANN MCGREGOR 22.5.1854 (just too early for any information except that at the time they were both of the parish of Whitburn). She was daughter of Robert McGregor and Ann McFarlane. (A family story has them linked to Rob Roy but we'll leave that one for now !!) We had high hopes if she was Thomas' sister and she was born in Scotland that we would find the parents. However, it appears to be a transcription error and she is actually in Penicuik with a different family - although if you click on her name all the Whites have moved to Penicuik too!! I can't be by the computer all evening but will pop in and out - thanks for your help

	Hi Greyghost, I have been looking, honest !! but haven't found anything useful yet I am afraid apart from a strange person with that name - a labourer at the time, who was wandering about Northamptonshire and who spent the odd few weeks in prison here and there for begging or petty theft etc. Nothing to say that he had anything to do with 'your' Thomas - He does seem to have been born in Ireland though but that is the only vague connection so far :-( Dea x

	I've been looking too, GG, but found nothing, I'm afraid.
	Researching: Old genealogists never die.....they just lose their census.
