Hi,please can you help?
Alice T Stannett was born in 1866 in Cuba. Her father Henry James Stannett was a mariner but I have no idea who her biological mother was.
Alice appears on the 1871 census with her father
Regards
Wendy ,her stepmother Jane and her half-sister Anne.I have found no trace of her after that.no death,no marriage.
In 1875 three of her half-siblings died in West Derby (probably a childish infection).
A half brother survived and moved South to live with his mother's relatives.
Henry J Stannett died in 1878.
Jane Stannett in 1881 was a lady's maid in Hale vicarage.
I had thought that perhaps Alice died with her three half siblings but I can't find a record of dea

I have found this which seems a bit of a coincidence?

Alicia Mark Thomas born Cuba 22/2/1866 bap in Liverpool 19/1/1868 by Charles Thomas a Clerk of Denton street and wife Jane.

1881 Alicia a servant in Great Crosby Lancashire.

Alicia M Thomas married Charles Davis 1891 and had sons Ivor Charles Davis in Cardiff 1893 and Cecil Stephen Davis.

Alicia died 1947

So if Alicia/Alice was born to Jane to her 1st husband could the T her middle initial in 1871 stand for Alice Thomas Stannett

No way to really prove this, but thought I would post it anyway.

Just had a look and there are a few people on here with Alicia in their tree!

I was thinking along the same line that Alice T could be Alice Thomas and a daughter of Jane who was a widow when she married in 1868

The records of Henry have him constantly a batchelor

Hello Maryb
Sorry for not replying sooner.I think you may have solved the mystery,I had no hard evidence for thinking Alice was Henry's child from a previous relationship. If Alice/Alicia was born to Jane,Jane must have been in Cuba too.Jane's father David James,(according to her record of marriage to Henry) ,was also a mariner.
As Jane was born in Pembrokeshire she might be on the 1851/1861 census but I haven't found her yet.

I was thinking maybe this is Jane in 1841 Sub district Milford

1841 Milford but can't read street address.
Mary James 1807 ish Pembrokshire
Thomas 1831
Maryan 1833
William 1835
Martha 1837
Jane 5 weeks.

1851 Milford can't make out street address sorry

Mary James born Fishguard 1808
Martha born Fishguard 1839
Jane born Milford 1842

1861 Parish of Chapel/Capel Colman
Jane Martha Jones head age 81
Jane James born Stainton? (Steynton) Pembrokshire 1840 House Maid.

So maybe Mary's husband was away at sea!
