Marian Report 24 Nov 2018 20:30

Hello, I am looking for marriage for Mary Young to ????? Armer (various spellings). Born approx between 1799 - 1808 according to which census you believe, at Darlington, parents John and Hannah Young. Below is the 1841 census off family search

1841 cenus Sherburn Road Gilesgate, Durham

Hannah Young 66/70
Mary Armur 32/36
Ann Armur 4 1836/37
George Armur 1 39/40 - born March q 1840 Durham & Lanchester area as Armer, mothers maiden name Young.

George dies and is buried 24 July 1850 at St Giles, Durham aged 11.

Mary then marries William Boazman (various spellings) on 8 January 1848 at St Cuthberts, Durham. 1851 census as follows

1851 census Sunderland Road, St Giles, Durham

William Bozman aged 53 Coal miner born Great Stainton Co Durham
Mary Bozman 43 laundress born Darlington Co Durham
Ann Armer daughter 13 born St Giles Durham

William dies Sept q 1859

1861 census Sunderland Road Belmont

Mary Boazman 54 widow laundresswidow Darlington
James Robinson 32 son in law colliery labourer Mottram Cheshire
Ann Robinson 24 daughter St Giles

1871 census Elvet

Mary Bozman 72 widowed chapel cleaner born Darlington

Mary dies June q 1874 aged 67

I would also like to know when Ann Marries James Robinson (thought I would keep this on same thread) is this ok? I can't find anything and I can't find them on any further census. There is a daughter born March q 1864 Elizabeth Ann Robinson, Durham, mothers maiden name Armer.

Hope the above makes sense.

Thank you.

Thanks Margaret and Dea, I can't believe I missed that. I was expecting them to have married in Durham. Cecilia threw me as well.

Isn't Stockton in Durham? It was when I lived in Middlesbrough.

I was wondering qabout this death for the husband of Mary (nee Young) ?

It seems the only death in the right area of someone of a similar age to Mary.

Hello Margaret, I meant Durham City. Gilesgate, St Giles and Belmont are all Durham City or literally on outskirts.

You posted above:

"George dies and is buried 24 July 1850 at St Giles, Durham aged 11."

Do you have the details on little George's death? He apparently died at the Low Grange Colliery where he was working (poor little thing!!) when one of the boilers overheated and exploded. Another boy died alongside him, 2 people were also injured and many buildings severely damaged.

What a sad end..............
