Thank you . The name Petty changed to Pettyford between 1851 and 1861. Eliza was unmarried so did she change her name? I wonder.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 12 Jan 2019 15:57

If there were no known instances of multiple births prior to thos of Shirley's children, the genetic propensity to producing twins etc must surely be through her husbands line.

Have you investigated that possibility?

I found this ancestor on 1841 census. I am interested to find out if there are any multiple births in this family.

His daughter Eliza Pettyford 1836 moved to Walton le Dale from Bucks had 3 separate children. Her children as far as I know didn't have twins.

But her son John Pettyford 1868 had grandchildren who were triplets - 3 girls from his daughter Shirley (nee Pettyford).

In our present day family there are 4 sets of twins spread over 3 families.

Is there a connection?
