Thank you Safc that 1841 census does seem to fithe possibly kept his job after they married and possibly moved in with Isabel before he died?

You say you think Alexander died in 1845 at 4 Hamilton Street.
Where did you find that, please?

The Ancestry trees I've looked at say he died in 1847, but don't provide proof.

I don't see any death for him in 1845 on Scotlands People.
In 1847 there's one death which could be him, in St Cuthberts reg district., aged 46.

There's another in 1850 in St Cuthberts, aged 54.

EDIT:

OK, I've had look at the 1847 one, and that's the one you mean.
alexander Richardson, coachman, 4 Hamilton Place, Stockbridge.
Cause of death, heart disease.

1841 doesn't record relationships, so Georgina could be with other relatives

I've hit a brick wall again with Isabel Richardson If anyone can find her in the 1841 census for Scotland I would be very grateful

Isabel Finlay born 1795 Cockpen Midlothian she married Alexander Richardson in 1824 St Cuthbert's he was a servant at Gayfield house as was Isabel , I think he must have been a coachman /servant ,
They had as far as I know Thomas 1825 Cockpen, Isabella Gordon Richardson 1827 Inveresk, and then Georgina 1838 Midlothian
I think Alexander died in 1845 4 Hamilton St as Isabel was in the same house in the 1851 census
They could have had more children but I haven't found any
I have every thing other than this 1841 census which I'm thinking if they had anymore children they could be on here
