What happened to Elizabeth in 1881?

Elizabeth Coole born 1844, Bristol. Parents John and Elinor Coole. Siblings, Alfred 1839-1913. John 1841-1921. Eleanor 1842-1930. Hannah 1848-1940. Joseph 1850-1935. and Matilda 1854-1943. All born in Bristol.

Elizabeth married William Charles Trott in 1866 in Bristol. They had no children. On the 1871 census a niece Florence is staying with them.

By 1891 Elizabeth is a widow living with her sister Matilda in Bristol, and is classed as a professional nurse.

In 1911 she is living on her own (Matilda has since married) with Nephew Albert staying with her.

Elizabeth dies in 1940 Bristol.

But can find no record of Elizabeth in 1881.

On the 1861 census William Charles Trott is a Ship Carpenters Apprentice living with his parents John and Charlotte Trott.

But can find no death record for William. The only thing I can think of ,if William worked on a ship could he be abroad with Elizabeth in 1881, also if William died aboard is there any way of finding out.

Any help would be appreciated.

One died Woodbridge, Suffolk - a Shipowner (aged 83) and the other died in Somerset and was a Corn Thresher with probate to widow Sarah Matilda)

Ooooh now that looks good safc!! Her year of birth is out though, same as the lady in the 1939 register.

I like the look of Eliza Knott, the 1881 posted by alviegal.

This is the only Eliza* who married a Knott in Bristol 1860-81 (of course she may have married elsewhere):
