Jan, if you use Ancestry just create a temporary tree. I make loads of trees and just delete when I'm sure of the info and then add to my final tree. |

Great AustinQ. Annie was living in Belfast when she married but James Hamill's address was Broxburn. I would guess then that Peter had moved to Broxburn before 1913 and that would be how Annie and James met? |

This is stupid, I can't find that record on the 1901 England census. |

But born in the USA is a real surprise. I wonder when and why the parents moved over there - and why they came back. |

Yes, I think it's the correct family. Ages for Annie and James are correct, and also little Maggie/ Margaret. |

All this information is making my head spin, I can't get it all sorted out at all - do you really think that is the right family on the 1901? I'll go and have a closer look. |

We made a great team on this one! Hopefully the census will make things a little easier. |

I think she died before that as Peter remarried in 1916. I think it likely that 'deceased' was omitted from the marriage record. |

Well, if he really was born in Durham, there's this birth (but rather clutching at straws, I fear - Jan's James doesn't seem to have a middle name) : |
