Looking at the year of birth for the grandchildren, I wonder if they could be great grandchildren?

Janet

Janet Report 24 Feb 2019 17:59

On the Ellison family tombstone in Killeshill, Dungannon - http://prntscr.com/mphiff - there are a couple of Bleakley children. I can't find them, or their connection to the Ellisons. Any ideas please?

Well, if you really mean it. I will start a new thread for Johann Karl Wilhelm Gobel.

Always look forward to a challenge Jan :-)

That is so kind of you, I was worried I had been asking too much of you. If you're not careful, I'll ask you to help with my German great grandfather :-)

That's good Jan. Hope it comes soon, looking forward to another Kelly hunt :-D

I sent them a copy of what it showed on FreeBMD, and have received a reply which looks as if they are going to send the certificate after all. Fingers crossed.

Have looked at the images. Agnes's is clearly page 915 but the image for Montague's is blurred. Looking at the other numbers on the page, I think it should be 915. Pity, the GRO didn't look a page either side!

rootgatherer Report 22 Feb 2019 17:31

On Freebmd, one of them has the page number Mistranscribed. Agnes is page 915 and Montague is page 916. You could try reordering it with the other page number.

Janet Report 22 Feb 2019 16:30

Well that's a blow - I've had an email from GRO saying they can't trace the marriage of Montague Harrington with Agnes Kelly. I copied all the details from FreeBMD, so can only assume they got it wrong somewhere. I was counting on that to give me Agnes' father's name and occupation - I think I might have found her, but without anything concrete to go on its very difficult.

I had an amusing thought yesterday - wouldn't it be funny if Anne's paternal grandmother, Agnes M Kelly, was related to Peter Kelly; that her son Douglas was posted to Scotland during the war so went to visit his Scottish relations, and met and married Anne's mother there in 1944.

The daughter in law of Peter's son Peter has sent me a photograph of Peter Snr, so I'm passing that on to Anne today.

Maybe the 1841 enumerator got the daughters Harriet and Caroline mixed up ?

Maybe Harriet was born c1826.

Have you found her in later censuses?

EDIT:
No, forget that - she was born 1820:

Harriet Mary Cattell
England Births and Christenings
Name Harriet Mary Cattell
Gender Female
Christening Date 02 Jul 1820
Christening Date (Original) 02 JUL 1820
Christening Place SAINT JAMES,PADDINGTON,LONDON,ENGLAND
Birth Date 20 Mar 1820
Father's Name Richard Cattell
Mother's Name Harriott

Well, maybe he just wrote the wrong age for Caroline - grasping at straws.

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 20 Feb 2019 22:47

It's not unheard of to have two children with the same name even though the older one hasn't died, though must have been confusing - or maybe CF was known as Frances!.

Janet

Janet Report 20 Feb 2019 22:45

Thanks, I just found the christening record - but it seems they named 2 daughters Caroline

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 20 Feb 2019 22:40

Caroline F actually born in 1821:

Caroline Frances Cattell
England Births and Christenings
Name Caroline Frances Cattell
Gender Female
Christening Date 30 Jun 1822
Christening Date (Original) 30 JUN 1822
Christening Place SAINT MARY-ST MARYLEBONE ROAD,ST MARYLEBONE,LONDON,ENGLAND
Birth Date 30 Sep 1821 <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
Father's Name Richard Cattell
Mother's Name Harriet

Janet

Janet Report 20 Feb 2019 21:44

Its very strange, because there is the 1922 Caroline Frances as above, and also the 1926 Caroline. Caroline F went on to marry Charles Collins, and in her will it says she died at 65 Buckingham Palace Road.

Janet

Janet Report 20 Feb 2019 18:49

Yes, that makes better sense, thanks.

It looks as if the name originally was Kettle :-)

St. Anne Westmister is where Emily's parents married. (See marriage posted earlier)

Think that's a mistransciption. More likely to be St. Ann's, Westminster.

I wonder if Henry was only baptised because his twin was sickly? Charlotte is not with the family in 1841.
