Please don't laugh too much but I made a huge error in my family research which I had traced back to 1600 since starting in 2003 and have had to start from a marriage in 1827 all over again. I was wondering if anyone could help me find the birth of William Hindmarsh (or HIndmarch) who married Ann Dobson in Shilbottle on 31st December 1827. He's my 3xgreat grandpa. According to the 1851 census he was born in Embleton in Northumberland but I have found no one of that name born in Embleton between 1804 and 1806. |

Thank you everyone, you are amazing. I will start cross referencing with pencil and paper. I always presumed that old William in 1841 was my William's Dad but you have to be careful presuming anything round research or I wouldn't have got in such as mess. For example the census saying they lived in Earsdon when actually it was Seghill which is in Earsdon parish but a completely different place. Thanks again and I will keep investigating too. :-D |

I have found a new William Hindmarsh born December 1805 in Hartburn in Northumberland how do I rule him in or out of my quest please experts? I have used everything you found for me and if the William you've found is correct all his siblings went to Australia and had good lives while he was being evicted from his pitman's cottage in Northumberland for striking. |

Yes, Abby that was the one but as you have found he died when he was five I am pretty certain he's not mine. Thanks again. To infinity and beyond - or at least Northumberland to double check my Williams again. |
