I noticed that you asked if "this site was free?"

The 1939 Register is available with a sub to FindMyPast or to Ancestry ........ FMP had it first, ancestry got it fairly recently and is doing its own transcription of the register.

It is possible to find different results on FMP vs Ancestry.
