Re the two births I posted -
of course , as you're not sure if she was actually born in Hackney, maybe neither of them is correct.

When was she alleged to have gone to South Africa?

No results for the name in migration/travel records online

Shirley you have a different date for Edith in your "Researching" box, did she have a middle name please?

Shirley -
the title of your post says Edith was born c1895, but your "Researching" box says c1888.

Which is correct, please?

There are these two births:

Births Mar 1888 (>99%)
HARVEY Edith Maud Hackney 1b 617

Births Mar 1896 (>99%)
Harvey Edith Caroline Hackney 1b 500

What does it say about Edith on your mother's birth cert?

Hi I am looking for relatives of my grandmother, who I think was born in Hackney or lived there in 1927 when she had a liaison with a Morris Domb and my mother was the result. Edith went off to South Africa leaving my Mum in England with a lovely family. I look forward from hearing from some one xx
