If this website has correct info, it looks like Mary Jane was born too late to be on any surviving church record of baptisms, pre civil registration:

That one is still in Macoupin in 1860, 1870 and 1880, with wife Mary and several children all born in Illinois.

There are no online records of travel between England and Ireland, so you'll never know exactly when George went to Ireland, or exactly when he and Mary went to England.

Travel would have been by sea (you asked how George would have got there) , and probably he went to Ireland in connection with his work.

I hit a very high and big brick wall with my irish connections can anyone help

my grt grt grandmother was Mary Jane Glendinning or Clendinning she was born abt 1832 in northern Ireland. Married George Jackson born 1823 Nottinghamshire uk
the married in 1851 in tamlaghtflagan ireland I found these details and have all uk links but her father is listed as william glendinning or clendinnig mary and george had their first baby william jackson in 1852 but in 1855 my grt grandmother catherine jackson was born in liverpool. i have the details....i cant find how they got to uk between 1852 and 1855 or how george got to ireland in uk 1841 census he was in lodgings in nottinghamshire. can anyone with irish look ups help me please its only the irish ones I need pre mary and georges wedding thank you if you can help its been years and years still stuck on my irish roots
