I have a family which I can't find in the 1939 register hoping that more eyes might find them
James Sylvester Hornby born 13 Oct 1907-1983( Stockport) in Manchester Lancashire married 1930 Chorlton on Medlock Manchester to Fanny Allsopp They had James Sylvester 1831 Lawrenda 1932=2006,Muriel 1933-2010,Philip 1936 all born Manchester, then Judith 1945 in Macclesfield Cheshire

Not seeing them. What year was Fanny born - is it that Q2 1908 Prestwich birth mmn Evans? Or when/where did she die - possible dob will show

James may have already been away in the Forces so wouldn't be recorded and if the children didn't die until after 1990-ish or are still alive ( as I think you know) they will not be open records unless their death is known and has been proved.

As it looks like James S died 1983 Stockport RD then is this Fanny as Frances Hornby

Thank you for looking yes I realise the children will be blocked a couple have died thought their might have been a chance Fanny's parents were Jabez Allsopp 1837-1936 mother Fanny Evans Green 1871-1931 both Manchester.

Do you think they left to country for a while? There's a gap of over 10 years between Philip and Judith.

Just to catch up I've had a word with my 2nd Cousin The marriage for James in 1958 to Pauline Keating is right he's her eldest brother

and No James wasn't in France he worked in the aviation industry possibly fairy aviation and possibly played in their brass band, so he was in a reserved occupation

she was born 1945 and she doesn't know anything really about the her paternal side of the family
