Well, I can't find a death for Elijah or indeed a re-marriage for Lois to Enoch but I did find this which made me wonder if it might answer both these points??

Elijah Rotton, born Wednesbury 1839. Last sighting i can find is 1878 in a Birmingham Trade Directory where he is a grocer and tea dealer in Aston.

checked websites for deaths / passenger lists etc, but can't find what happened to him.

any pointers very gratefully received!
