Linda -

Chris has amended the post, and says that the Albert who died at sea is NOT William's father.

Edits (just found, would have been below, so no good for Father of William!)

Card Albert 1852 1873 1873 British Armed Forces And Overseas Deaths And Burials At Sea
(Ship Name "Palmas". Age 21. Cause, Consumption. Description of Voyage, Calcutta) (official Number of Ship, 54394)

(seems he was on route from Calcutta to Dundee)

Im not sure how to search by address

ErikaH Report 4 Oct 2019 12:33

As his birth was before 1875, it may simply not have been registered.

Address for both parties when they married was 5, Herbert Street.

Was either of them there in 1881?

ErikaH

That is them on the 1891 I hadn't seen that.
Jane's name is down as Mary J
but it definitely them as the children are correct
Thank you

'Sea Captain' seems an unlikely occupation for the father, although William's birthplace of Liverpool may give credence to the idea

Hello
I wonder if anyone could find a birth for William Henry Card c1867 Liverpool

I have his marriage to Jane Grimshaw and from that I know his father was Albert Card.

I have William on the 1901 and 1911 census.

It is before then that I am trying to find him.

here is his marriage

23 Jul 1887 • St Thomas Wigan Lancashire
William Henry Card - 21, Loomer, Bachelor, 5 Herbert Street
Jane Grimshaw - (X), 26, Spinster, 5 Herbert St.
Groom's Father: Albert Card, Sea Captain
Bride's Father: James Grimshaw, Collier
Witness: Robert Ormsher, (X); Alice Burns

I would love to know more about William before his marriage and his father Albert

Any help would be very much appreciated

Thank you
