The obvious solution is to get the birth cert and find out the infant’s gender. Badly-written, Joan could look like Ivan.

It’s a typed list on the birth record so would say it’s a typo

If Ivan isn't known to the family then a mistake has been made between the registrar office and the GRO transcript.

It was WW2 mistakes could slip by.

Applying to the GRO.for a copy of Ivans birth may shed light if there was ever such a person or Joan may have been born in another name.?

I looked at the image on Freebmd ............ It is definitely Ivan on there, and there is no other Lara birth on that page.

Many mistakes are in the indexes when they were transcribed from the GRO ledgers,,,,,

Ivan and Joan couldn't have been born in the same birth year unless a twin?

could not see a marriage or death for a ivan lara

his birth reg would be the same time as Joan.?1943.

I am totally stuck, my aunt Joan lara died 1957 aged 13 but I cannot find her birth mothers maiden name violet shuttlewood from West Ham I can find a birth for a Ivan lara 1943 West Ham but no death also nobody knows about this person, I’m very confused any help appreciated
