Lovely thanks! No, Shirley, I mistyped the date in haste! c1863 not c1833. Fabulous, thank you Kathleen. Mary Ann Goddard would make sense. Is there any way we could find out her parents from the marriage record?

Was his wife really 30 years younger than him ?.

If so then no chance of children probably

Hello,
I am not sure how to research the maiden name of Mary A. William George Callard was born in Devonport/Stoke Damerel Plymouth c1864 and he married a Mary A born c1833 who was born in Spitalfields. However, I cannot seem to get any further than this! By the looks of it he was in the Army transport Corps in the 1901 census but cannnot find any other info about this articular ancestor. Can anybody help at all or suggest any searches i could do?
Thanks!
