Am I to assume that This is the Jane Bailey born to Charlotte Hardiman and John Bailey please? If so, she also had a brother John and does this mean that she married her brother?

Many thanks.

Many thanks.

The name Bailey is VERY common.............................

WHY do you think that the MARRIED woman on the census had the maiden name Bailey?

Have you done anything about getting facts?

WHY did you 'review' my post which resolved your query on the following thread.

https://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/ancestors/thread/1380687

You didn't have the courtesy to acknowledge the info

Because, Erika, that was the census record that you emphasised in your other thread reply as Harriot being a typo of Charlotte. With this being so, you will note, from this 1841 census record that you referred to that Thomas is listed and so is William (Willer):

John Bailey 38
Charlotte Bailey 40
Betsy Bailey 17
Ann Bailey 14
Jane Bailey 11
John Bailey 9
Willer Bailey 8
Sarah Bailey 6
Thos Bailey 4 <-----------
Rebecca Bailey 3
Charles Bailey 1
Harriet Bailey 2 Mo
Richd Chmaberlain 15

Although Eliza was already married by this point and does not feature in the 1841 census (they are from Preston Capes where the marriage between John and Charlotte was per Preston Capes Geniology and my own research that has verified it), Having William Thomas and then William (see "Willer" above) seems a step too far wouldn't you say?

"You know how to look up info" - sure, that's precisely why i'm questioning this as the only other record that **could** fit is Jane in Coventry, whose Mother was Mary and not Charlotte. Jane was born in Preston Capes, there is a further record for her still living in Northamptonshire in "Eye" in the 1851 census. There is also a bunch of names within your census record without a specification of whether they are the children or not (with other listed as the Son or Daughter respectively and the later ones seem a little late in life for Charlotte).

Hi Maddie, that would not be the John but thanks - This John was born to Charlotte and John but thank you for the other information there.

Thanks Erika - OK, so that's John's story, but what happened to Jane (daughter) that is listed in the census that you referred to - that's how this question come about?

Thanks.

Erika - review? I was just checking it out to see that it added up for myself as I had initially added these children and something had made me doubt it so I had deleted them. I was going to come back on it but I wanted to add the children and then make sure the records added up for the children - I take your point that the census is barely legible and therefore that the Transcriber has misinterpreted it but I also questionned it on the basis that a number of the children are not specified as Son or daughter in the census that you have pointed to whereas a number of them are. I wondered if they took some nieces or nephews in. You have one birth shortly before Charlotte was 50. I appreciate these days that that is more likely to go well but in Victorian times I would have thought that would have lessened the possibility significantly.

Thanks.

To find what happened to Jane, look for death or marriage on freebmd

1841 census does not record relationships - please make a note of this fact

Every single one of the 10 family trees have concluded that this Thomas (who married Jane Ladbrook)'s parents were actually Elizabeth Drake and Thomas Bailey as opposed to Charlotte Hardiman and John Bailey. Jane Ladbrook and Thomas emigrated to Canada.

Per the 1881 census, it's a different set of children -:

John Bailey 54
Jane Bailey 33
Robert Bailey 18
Jane Bailey 14
Ada Bailey 12
Frederick Bailey 10
Albert Ernest Bailey 8
Charles Bailey 6
Arthur Archibald Bailey 4
Robert Leonard Bailey 2
Percy Edward Bailey
Jane Kendrick 66
Elizabeth Walton 16
Joseph Benjamin Gurney 18

Also, having a family in Rugby but also settling in Northampton seems a bit far fetched?

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 10 Aug 2020 21:16

What is your point?

And the man who married Jane Ladbrook was JOHN Bailey

beanie

beanie Report 10 Aug 2020 21:32

Not the same John Bailey.... Would you agree?

Thanks.

Haven’t the foggiest idea which John Bailey you’re referring to

Phew, moving on! I'll let people reading this thread draw their own conclusions rather than getting into the semantics of keyboard warriors.

Maddie I appreciate your help but I think it is probably the wrong one, your thoughts please? Given Erica's trolling, I don't think we should take it as read that Charlotte and Harriet are even the same person. Really takes a narcissistic piece of work to mess around with people's family (she appeared so adamant that it was "obviously" a transcription error! - The census record concerned is hardly legible.).

Thanks.
