Hi Mistycat

He did marry Mary Newman... I have their marriage cert.
(thats where the J turns up in his name)

One son Michael Flood born 1932....
then just after Michael was born up and left never to be seen again.

My friend (who's family this is) remembers it happening but not who asked, that's how we have worked out that he passed away late 70's early 80's.

Regards

Do any of the family recollect who asked if Matthew could be buried with Mary, sounds unlikely he had a second family, unless he deserted them too...it could have been his dying wish told to a priest, solicitor etc....you’ve probably explored all these possibilities though?

Hi

The marriage cert has his name as Matthew Flood

but the signature says Matthew J Flood

When he passed away the family were asked could he be buried with his wife, Mary
(the one he had left many years previously)
however whoever this person was got told NO..
so we know he died in the areaish.

I will have a look at the above link as well

It will probably always be a family mystery where he was...

Posting just because of the name and year of death, and location-

I don't suppose this is him ??? DOB unknown

Rev M. J. Flood
in the UK and Ireland, Find a Grave Index, 1300s-Current
Name: Rev M. J. Flood
Death Date: 9 Sep 1972
Cemetery: Dunderry Cemetery
Burial or Cremation Place: Dunderry, County Meath, Ireland

Note added on Findagrave:
Parish Priest of Dunderry, Robinstown and Kilbride 1941-1972.

According to this - Very Rev - not just Rev -

http://www.interment.net/data/ireland/meath/dunderry/index.htm

But again, none of the trees on Ancestry mention a middle initial .

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 3 Apr 2021 13:15

Do you know what his middle name was?

We can't find any records for a Matthew J Flood - only people called Matthew Flood.
Even the trees on Ancestry (which are for the man for whom we've posted records) don't mention a middle name.

One tree gives an address of 7 Pound Street, Ballaghadarean, Co Rosscommon - but with no indication of when he lived there, or where the info has come from.
Is that his last known address? and if so, when? 1932?

How do you know he died in the Kells area if you don't have the death cert?

Thanks guys..

It was a bit of a mystery...

He disappeared from just after 1932 till his death in the late 1970's early 1980's and the family have no idea where he was.

Was hoping there were some names on the death record......
