This is the Hannah Miles I was looking for, just couldn’t find a marriage to James Brazier, so it looks like as suggested she was still married to James Osborne. In 1854 I found workhouse records for her and baby son John James Osborne, states husband deserted her, tried my hardest to find where he went to. Looks like she married him at 16 yrs old not 18. Thank you all for helping me in trying to find their where abouts. Perhaps her husband James Osborne moved completely away and not to be found so she wouldn’t be able to remarry.

I have been trying to find this Osborne family for quite a while , thinking they came from Southend on Sea Essex. Clarence Frederick Osborne married a Dorothy Margaret Smith in 1919 Southend ,so it was a surprise his family have all originated from Islington. History repeating itself by the looks of it because they split and he lived with another woman and had a number of children in Rochford area Essex and Dorothy Margaret Osborne couldn’t remarry until 1944. Just looking up James Brazier on Public members Ancestry, he appeared to have had 13 children between Hannah Osborne and Rebecca Richardson . Wow, many thanks for helping putting final the pieces together for my late friends family

Think this may be about your Hannah.

CLERKENWELL.-The New Divorce Act Again. —Hannah Osborne applied to Mr. Corrie, under the 21st section of the New Divorce and Matrimonial Causes Act, for an order for the protection of her property against her husband or any of his creditors.
The applicant stated that she resided at 3 Elliott's Buildings, Islington and that her husband had deserted her about four years ago, leaving her with an infant only 3 weeks old. She had now acquired some household furniture, and as her husband had done nothing towards supporting either her or her infant, she wished for some protection.
Mr Corrie, without hearing any further evidence, at once made the order, and directed the applicant to take it to the County Court to have it registered which would cost her but a small sum.

03 March 1858 - Morning Post - London, London, England

She sounds like a very strong woman and I hope she had the 'small sum' needed to register the order.

Yes, that's correct - the address 3 Elliotts Place is what's given on her workhouse records.

She was admitted to Islington Workhouse on 25 Jan 1853 - "Distress - husband absent".

Then again in the record John mentions, on 11 Aug 1854, with baby John James - "Deserted by husband".

Both times she was admitted from 3 Elliotts Place, Islington.

Unfortunately there were lots of James Osborn(e)s born about 1831, (judging by the 1841 census) living in the general London area, so impossible to pick him out after that.

There are numerous workhouse records for men of the name of James Osborn(e).

I don't see him with a brickmaker father named William before the marriage.

At the time of marriage, James's address was Virginia Row.

Elliott's P!ace was also the address given for Hannah on her Marriage Cert and 3 Elliott's Place was the address of Hannah in the 1851 Census when she was with her Mother and siblings. :-)
