On the 1939, did they not register the children under a certain age. Is it possible to find the following children in 1939 surname Small all born in Gravesend Kent. Alice DD b 1925, Phoebe b 1927, Iris F b1928, Ronald HE b 1930, Frederick R b 1931. Their mother Ada E nee McLeod died in 1931 Gravesend. Just wondering if these children were fostered out or living with their father Donald Small in Gravesend. Many thanks

The child on the 1939 should be Donald's as it is record no 2

As Dorothy is recorded as married, one assumes they had to wait for her husband to die, or a divorce, before they could marry

Actually Dorothy Osborne, was my friends grandmother but just wanted to know about Donald Small and where his family were after his wife died in 1931. Presumed in the household of their father Donald Small and Dorothy Osborne and she moved in to look after them, although my friend didn’t know anything about them, but she herself was only born in 1939. Obviously the Small children had left home by then so there was no need to know. There were no children of Donald Small and Dorothy Osborne so the blanked out one on 1939 must have been a child of Donald Small. Many thanks , cleared it up about the 1939 register.
