I have Margaret Snowdon baptised 13 Mar 1822 in Hesket in the Forest, parents John Snowdon and Mary Storey. I also have Edward Snowdon baptised same day, same parents, so I'm assuming they were twins. I am trying to find out what happened to Margaret - I can't find her in the 1841 census and can't find a death for her. I have Edward lodging with a John Salkeld in 1841 census, age 15, making birth 1824 not 1822, but the reason I think it's him is because Ann Dodd is working closeby as a family servant for her grandmother, Ann Deark.
Edward married Ann Dodd in Melmerby and her parents were John Dodd and Elizabeth Deark.

You can't assume that they were twins because they were baptised the same day. They might have been, but you would need other proof. Sometimes the vicar or clerk helpfully add birth dates at the side of the parish record entry.

I have seen many church records where families had 2 , 3 or even more children baptised the same day, even though their birth dates were spread over many years.

In 1841 census, ages were rounded to the nearest multiple of 5, so I would have expected for Edward to be recorded older than 15, as he was in fact at least 19, if he was baptised in 1822.

On the other hand, if he was indeed born in 1822 as well as baptised then, his age would show as 15 in the 1841 census, as ages were rounded down to the nearest multiple of 5.

But without proof . . . . . .

The marriage to Elijah Clegg seems unlikely.

Hesket is about 100 miles away from Habergham Eaves.

I can see George (probably) in 1851, 1871, 1881 and 1891 in St George Hanover Square, London, with wife Elizabeth.
He died there in 1892.

Can't see Joseph conclusively anywhere.

I'm not ready to rule out Edward and Margaret being twins yet, as when Edward married Ann Dodd they had a set of twins, Eleanor and Grace. Not sure how I'd prove this though.

The original church register might record that they were twins, otherwise I'm not sure how you could be certain.

The question mark is in the transcription, and is because there is no record of the birth dates on the original baptism record.

Even putting 1822 as the year of birth is only a guess by the transcriber, and possibly misleading, because nobody knows.
