Births for the correct year - which, of course, pre-dates the introduction of penalties for not registering, so his birth may be unrecorded

No-one named Lee in South Parade, Pocklington on 1911 census

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 10 Sep 2021 11:44

Thanks, Marie.

However, I'm afraid I don't see any John (William) Lee in 1911,who's a joiner and unmarried and the right age.

Nor in 1881 with a blacksmith father named Robert.

Thanks all.
I am trying to find out the details from marriage certificate, as someone in family does have it.
Once I have these, I can update.

My question @ 1223
Do you have the marriage cert. What was John's marital status and
What age was John William Lee and what was his occupation - ? possible to find them on the 1939 register

answer 1242
Not sure how old John was, but I believe he was a joiner.

So ? Marie doesn't have the certificate?

How do you know his Father was Robert a Blacksmith?
and why do you think he was a joiner.

All details from the marriage certificate if you do have it please

FMP quite often shows open records on the 1939 register, when they're still closed on Ancestry.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 9 Sep 2021 16:34

On looking at Ancestry, I see that the record for Alice Macintyre(Keddie) is redacted, so her death hasn't been picked up, although one assumes FMP have opened the record under the 100-year rule

Oops! I missed that entirely!

The address might give a clue...........and the witnesses' names

ArgyllGran Report 9 Sep 2021 16:25

Marie said that John William Lee's father was Robert - a blacksmith.

Does it say if Robert was alive or deceased in 1914, Marie?
And any other details about John would be helpful.
What was his occupation?

On freebmd 'Pocklington' is in italics - meaning there is a query. In this case, the transcriber can't read - the image is very clear

I have submitted a correction to freebmd

ErikaH Report 9 Sep 2021 15:07

The only way to be certain that you follow the correct John William Lee is to get a copy of his marriage cert to find out if he knew his father's details

It will also tell you whether he'd been married before, which would be a distinct possibility, in view of his age
