As Andrew and William were both tenants at Newhouse (which is a farm ) it does seem reasonable to think they were father and son.

The children's births are documented on SP - but no record of the parents' marriage, nor William's birth.

The tree "owner" says the info about Andrew, Margaret, and William is from inscriptions on stones in Lilliesleaf churchyard - but they have made a lot of assumptions about relationships - as follows, copied from FS.

"Deaths are from MI's and photos for Lilliesleaf churchyard.
"Sacred to the memory of William Knox late tenant in Newhouse who died 25.2.1796 in the 74th year of his life. Janet Smaill his wife dies 10.4.1791 aged 60 years... etc"

On Margaret Knox's birth image she is baptized 27 Apr 1774 in Lilliesleaf. Parents shown as William Knox and Janet Smaill tenants in Newhouse.

On an adjacent tombstone there is the MI "Here lyes Andrew Knox late tenant in Newhouse who died February 1768 aged 77 years. Margaret Kirkwood his spouse who died July 1768 aged 74 years..."
Assuming these as the parents of William Knox since their death dates would allow him to take over the tenancy at age 46, and his birth is when she is 28.
There are quite a few Knox inscriptions on these adjacent stones which could be siblings or uncles etc."



There are no parents for either Andrew or Margaret shown on that tree.

Can't see deaths for Andrew or William in the years given.

Can't see any record of the birth of a William Knox in Lilliesleaf c1731.

Could you tell us how you get to these people please? Do you have any records for baptisms, marriages etc?

if they married in 1710 a little unlikely child born 21 years later but i could be well wrong
nothing on scotlands people between1710 and 1735 for that couple
