Can't find my Father anywhere on the 1921 Census, birth year 1909 so only 12yrs old. His widowed mother, older brother and younger sister were each found at different addresses. Could he be in an orphanage for boys because his father died in 1914? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as this was to be the last Census he would appear on before emigrating to Australia 1927.

Have just realised I hadn't indicated in the post it was the 1921 Census I was researching.

Have you searched using only forename initial and surname?

Or variants of surname?

Where was he born?

Thank you ErikaH, Kathleen Bell, Shirley for your suggestions. I will continue my research of other family members but just for the moment I'm taking a break from looking for our Dad - perhaps he was AWOL on Census night and therefore not recorded at all.
Thanks again,
Carolyn

Bear in mind that there are lots of mistakes in the 1921 transcriptions.

It's possible that his name may not have been transcribed, even if he's on the original documents.
