GRO lists this one in the wider London area.

HALL, JOHN 73
GRO Reference: 1860 S Quarter in STEPNEY Volume 01C Page 311

The address of the man who died 24 Sept 1860 was Frederick Square, Stepney, so the death posted by Gwyn will relate to that.

He's stated to be 2 years older than your John Hall is said to be in 1851 census - but ages on death certs are only as good as the informant's knowledge.

Do you have a baptism record for him, or are you using only census info to determine his birth year?

The following is the record that Elizabeth refers to, image on Ancestry

Age: 73
Abode Frederick Square, Stepney
Birth Date: abt 1787
Burial Date: 24 Sep 1860

Given the details on the record, I agree with Gwyn re the death registration.

The Stepney registration district also covers Limehouse so this very much the right area as Stepney & Limehouse are next door.

Births 1837-1934 and 1984-2020, and deaths 1837 - 2020 (no marriages):

https://www.gro.gov.uk

You have to register, but it's free to search, and then you order a cert on the same site.

Invaluable - births and deaths give the person's full name , and births also give the mother's maiden surname .

The GRO site has records from England and Wales only.
