Hi all, not been on the site for a while.
I am looking for the parents of Mary Tansom b.1807 Isle of Wight, Hampshire, I know she married Isaac Toogood and had children. I have someone who is connected to the TANSOM's but they also can not find her parents.
Any one out there able to guide us in the right direction.

I have checked and Mary Tanson was born on the Isle of Wight, Up to 7 children born to her and Isaac Toogood.
Thomas Tansom & Elizabeth Lock did have a Mary Tansom but wrong one to old she married Isaac Lock in 1779.
There is also possibley some birth date differences in the children born but that is normal in those days.
I will look at the Tansom families that were in the Isle of Wight and see what I come up with.

You need to consider SANSOM, as per the births of the couple’s children which someone took the trouble to look up

Have you actually seen the OPR entry of marriage or just a transcript.

The transcript is all that is available on FMP and does say Tansom, but is that actually correct?

Who were the witnesses to the marriage, that may help

From Family Search - this record gives the Marriage place as Hampshire Cross, so perhaps the bride's parish ?? Still says Tansom, but from Bishop's Transcripts so a mistake could have been made somewhere along the line.

Hi, the data I have on Mary Tansom came from a relation on William's side and they actually quoted all that was on the LDS website, so there could be some mistakes.
That will muck things up as I have other Tansom names on my tree that I will have to check.
Tansom on my tree married female Casford and Bagwell and Yeats, more Casford than others. All on the Isle of Wight.
I know the Casford marriages are correct.
So a bit more work to do.

Next to Isaac Toogood widr and his family.

Hi, the census data is great, yes 1841 Isaac Toogood 10 is a son to Mary and Isaac.
1851 &61 tells me that James & Fanny must be brother and sister to Mary Tansom as Isaac mentioned as nephew, even if last name spelt different.
That gives me a lot of help in finding parents for them.
I'll reply with what I find.

The surname is NOT Tansom - it is Sansom

The marriage record has obviously been mistranscribed, probably due to the way the capital letter has been written.
