Hi
My dads cousin Harold George Pawsey Creasey was born in 1911 East Grinsted and lived
with his grandparents at 11 Council Terr no farther is on the birth cert but i was wondering if this was his fathers surname as it is a unusual name to give someone.
Could some one with access to the 1911 census see if any one with that name close to the address above.

Thanks Barry

For our help .......

This is the 1911 Census

11 Council Terrace Dormans Park Road E Grinstead, East Grinstead, Sussex, England

First name(s) Last name Relationship to head Marital status Sex Age Birth year Occupation Birth place
James Creasey Head Married Male 47 1864 General labourer Sussex East Grinstead
Esther Creasey Wife Married Female 47 1864 - Surrey Horley
Nellie Winifred Creasey Daughter Single Female 22 1889 General servant domestic Sussex East Grinstead
Ernest Harold Creasey Son - Male 14 1897 - Sussex East Grinstead
Florence May Creasey Daughter - Female 11 1900 School Sussex East Grinstead
Violet Louisa Creasey Daughter - Female 9 1902 School Sussex East Grinstead

So it could have been the son of the house (or even the ehad of the house) or a servant where the mother worked.

Related to this thread though not asking for quite the same info.

Barry, it's always better to keep requests for information about the same person on one thread to save duplicate searches etc

Perhaps you should look further back to see whether there’s a Pawsey connection in the family

The FMP version of the 1911 census, posted by Sylvia, has mistranscribed Harold's mother's name as Nellie.
However, it's Hettie on the image and also in Ancestry's transcription, and on other records .
GRO has mistranscribed her as Kettie at birth , but FreeBMD is correct with Hettie.

There were no Pawseys in East Grinstead in 1901 either.

There's also no Pawsey in the Creasey family, as far as I can see, going back to the 1820s. At least not among parents, grandparents, gr-grandparents.
