Find Ancestors

This is a message parts of which I posted a few places including RootsChat. It was suggested I join Genes Reunited to try to find the answer, but I've been unable to get replies from the few people I've contacted so I'm posting here before I give up and just put what I'm sure of in my family history with some general notes in case anyone wants to go forward with what is turning out to be a futile search:

I've just started concentrating on the family and am confused on several things: I have my Daniel Flook married to Susannah Millsom, but there is an entry in Church of England Marriages and Banns for a Charles Flook md. Susannah Millsom 5 Sept. 1784 Margotsfield St. James and a post gives Phoebe as the daughter of
Susannah and Charles. The Daniel (b.1783) I have is 20 years younger
than Susannah (b. 1763) so that appears unlikely. Can you unpuzzle this for me?

I take it that your own line is Daniel & Susana. So it is Daniels marriage that you wish to confirm.

Added: for other researchers - there is quite a bit on the Roots chat page probably needs reading before digging into this. Haven’t time at the moment to make a start.

Susannah b 1765 has parents William and Elizabeth.

It would help us to help you if you told us which of the people you have named is your actual ancestor, and how you worked back to that individual.

I assume that either William 1804, Daniel 1808 or Samuel 1810 is your proven ancestor?

Thanks to all those who contributed to this question. I am sure of William Flook (b. 1830) and Mary Clark (b. abt 1834 in Frome, Somerset). William Flook's father was William Flook and his mother was Charlotte (Family Search has her as Porter). These come from public records - Census, Marriage). William and Mary were married 17 Nov 1856 in Stapleton.

Many people list the wife of William Flook as Mary Ann Lake from a marriage entry in 1853. On examination, the entry includes Mary Ann Lake among others, but the William Flook (b. abt. 1833) marriage is actually to Sarah Poole and this William Flook is another person entirely . In the 1871 Wales Census William and Sarah are living in Wales. The William Flook who is our ancestor married Mary Clark 17th November 1856 at Stapleton Holy Trinity Church and they are shown as living in Bristol. Some people compound the error by mixing information on the families including children and burials. The descendants of Aaron Flook and Hannah Pratten
are sometimes confused with the William Flook/Mary Clark line as well.

The info about unconnected people only muddies the waters, I'm afraid.
