After my wife was diagnosed with Alzeimers in 2018 I stopped my family tree searching.I'd always had trouble finding much info on Mary Liddle but recently I found a "Birthday Book" belonging to my Paternal Grandparents and Mary S Welsh is recorded in it as 30 years old .It appears Mary married a John S. Welsh around 1887
in Auckland, Durham. Any help you could give me about her life would be appreciated.
She is recorded in 1891 Census with her parents at Gladstone Terrace. Sunniside, Durham.

and her parents names are listed as whom as there ae so many Mary Liddle 1881 and Mary Weksh in 1891.born with the year of 1864,

Sorry Mary's parents were Robert Liddle and Mary(nee Milikin).I thought the marriage to John S Welsh was 1887.The "Birthday Book" thinks (badly written) the S. stands
for Stevenson or Stephenson. It's just I can't seem to find a census record of the Welsh family.

Mary had no middle name at birth, nor at marriage or censuses.

Stephenson was her husband's middle name - see the marriage record posted earlier.

Perhaps he used it as a sort of double-barrelled name - Stephenson Welsh.
Or else the enumerator in 1891 thought that's what it was, so added it to Mary's name.

Margaret and Ellen Jane's parents are John and Elizabeth, born Lumley, Durham.

Elizabeth Ann's birth from GRO:

I don't see her definitely after that.
She's not with Mary in 1891.

The only way to know if she's a daughter of Mary is to buy her birth cert.
But I don't see any other likely Welsh/Liddle marriage.


John W Liddle in 1891 census above was illegitimate, so probably also Mary's child, even though listed as son of Robert and Mary senior in 1891 and 1901 censuses, just as Isabella is listed as their daughter and not their grand-daughter.
(The census posted by Maddie is the 1901, not 1891.)
