Melanie, I had a quick look and there is one death that may possibly be your grandfather. You could order the death cert to see where he was living and who the informant was.
There are 61 graveyards in Norwich area!

Bertie William Goddard
B 1907
D. 1985
Norwich outer
V 10
Page no 1934

You can order this through the GRO, Cert cost £11.00 each.

Hope this helps

ArgyllGran Report 24 Apr 2024 23:21

Death was registered in Norwich Outer, which covers a large number of smaller places in Norfolk.:

Deaths 1985 (>99%)

List of places in Norwich Outer Reg district:

This may be his wife's cremation record:

Elsie May Goddard
in the England & Scotland, Select Cemetery Registers, 1800-2022
Name Elsie May Goddard
Age 76
Record Type Cremation
Death Date 8 Oct 1986
Cremation Date 13 Oct 1986
Burial Place Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England
Cemetery Great Yarmouth Crematorium
Interment Number 21934

Elsie's ashes were to be "returned to Fishers, Southwold".
If that's the right woman, and if her ashes were scattered, then his may have been, too, in which case there will be no grave.

A Google search shows that Fishers are/were a firm of funeral directors, now owned by Anglia Co-operative.
Their contact details:

It might be worth asking Fishers if they have records as old as that, in case they also dealt with your grandfather's's funeral..

Elsie's address was 8 Chartres Piece, Willingham, Beccles, Suffolk

Or contact Great Yarmouth Crematorium:

Their Book of Remembrance isn't digitised, unfortunately, or we could have searched that.
