Re the Stoker family -

Frederick died in 1882.
The son Albion died in 1885.
Catherine remarried in 1884, to Robert Abbey.
By 1891 she has four sons and two step-daughters.


Can't help wondering if Catherine Stoker, nee Davies, was Sarah's mother, and if Sarah was Frederick's step-daughter, disguised as "cousin".

There seems to be no feasible marriage of a William Richards to a Catherine Davies, unless possibly this one - assuming William John married Hannah Rees:

There are trees on ancestry with Sarah J and John in them.

Her marriage has her father as William Richards, coal miner. She was a 21 yr old spinster and John was a 21 yr old bachelor labouring at a foundry. His father was William, a saw mill labourer. Both fathers were deceased. The address of both John and Sarah was 3 Hill Street, Seaton Carew and Robert Abbey and Rhoda Wright were witnesses. They married at Hartlepool Register Office 2 Oct 1893.


Sarah Jane's birth was registered in Stockton on 11 Nov 1873. She was born 27 Oct 1873 at 22 Hibernia Street, Thornaby, York. Her parents were William Richards, coal miner and Catherine Richards formerly Davies. C Richards, mother, 22 Hibernia Street, Thornaby was the informant.

Sarah's marriage cert is the obvious place to start, for her father's details if known.
